This panel is all about celebrating filmmakers who’ve traveled across the globe to make their mark in Canadian cinema. We’ll explore how their unique perspectives shape storytelling, bridge cultures, and redefine the Canadian film industry.

Here’s a quick look at our amazing moderator and panelists:

🎤 Moderator:
 Anya Vagabova, Founder & CEO, ConneKt Film
Anya is a Ukrainian filmmaker based in Toronto with a passion for inclusivity and global storytelling. She’s dedicated to connecting emerging talent with opportunities and resources.

🎥 Panelists:
 Yazmeen Kanji (She/Her)
Award-winning filmmaker and founder of Films With A Cause, Yazmeen’s work includes From Syria to Hope and With Love From Munera. Her fiction short One Day premieres at CFF on March 26!

Amir Kahnamouee (He/Him)
An Iranian-Canadian writer and actor, Amir’s feature Please, After You premiered at Whistler Film Festival in 2024. His work has won multiple awards, including the Writer’s Guild of Canada Jim Burt Prize.

Celestina Aleobua (She/Her)
Filmmaker and founder of ThatAfrikan Productions, Celestina tells authentic Black stories. Her recent works include Tina, When Will You Marry? and After 30.
